Partner studentships are funded by the University and an external sponsor. Full-time PhD candidates (UK, EU and overseas) beginning courses in October 2008 who have or expect to obtain a first or upper second class honours degree (or equivalent) are eligible to apply. the award covers tuition fees (at the home/EU rate) and provides a full stipend of £12,300 Overseas candidates will be required to demonstrate, before the offer of an award is confirmed, that they have sufficient funds to cover the balance of the overseas tuition fee. The closing date for applications is 30 April. Mempersiapkan diri dalam mencari bea siswa

Bea siswa di Inggris seperti telah dijelaskan sangat banyak. Anda tinggal memilih subyek studi dan berapa besar tunjangannya. Bea siswa bisa full atau setengah atau malah hanya tuition fee saja yang ditanggung.

Bagaimana cara mempersiapkan diri dalam mengajukan bea siswa ini?

1. Anda harus benar-benar ahli dan menguasai satu bidang studi. Dalam bidang studi Anda tidak boleh setengah-setengah. Misalnya kalau Anda mencari bea siswa di bidang pertanian, maka penguasaan harus sepenuhnya. Anda menguasai semua bidang pertanian misalnya ilmu pertanahan mulai a sampai z. Tentu ini penting untuk menunjukkan keyakinan akan latar belakang keilmuan dan kemampuan Anda menerima ilmu baru.

2. Kuasai bahasa yang berkaitan dengan ilmu Anda. Bukan saja berarti bahasa Inggris harus baik tetapi bahasa yang berkaitan dengan ilmu Anda juga penting. Jika terjun ke bidang ekonomi maka istilah perekonomian dalam bahasa Inggris harus benar-benar mumpuni, tidak boleh setengah-setengah. Apa bedanya inflasi dengan dengan deflasi misalnya. Jika kita menguasai teori-teori besar ekonomi disamping teori mikro itu juga penting.

3. Persiapkan tes bahasa Inggris. IELTS atau TOEFL merupakan pilar penting dalam menerima bea siswa. Pastikan skor Anda tinggi dalam tes ini, setidaknya lebih dari enam. Jangan sampai di bawah enam IELTS Anda.

4. Persiapkan diri menghadapi wawancara. Latihlah terus didepan cermin dalam memberikan jawaban dengan bahasa Inggris. Misalnya, jawablah pertanyaan, mengapa Anda mengajukan bea siswa? Apa alasan Anda mampu menerima bea siswa ini?

Ini hanya beberapa poin penting supaya fokus saja. Banyak soal teknis kecil yang perlu dipelajari lebih lanjut.

Permanent residence stamp can keep in old passport

This information for people or students whose permanent residence in UK. If you hold permanent residence and  your passpor  is expired there is no requirement the stamp to transfer to a new passpor.

If the stamp that originally gave you permission to stay permanently in the United Kingdom (known as ‘indefinite leave to remain‘) is in an old passport, you should carry both your old passport and your new passport when you travel here, as evidence of your settled status. If you cannot produce your original stamp, you may not be allowed to enter the United Kingdom.

You do not need to have your stamp transferred to your new passport (provided you also carry your old passport) but you can do this if you wish.
