Chevening is the UK government’s flagship scholarship scheme, aimed at future leaders, high achievers, opinion formers and decision-makers. The programme is funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and administered by the British Council. About 2,000 scholars and fellows receive awards under the Chevening Programme each year to study in the UK.

Many talented graduates and young professional Indonesians have been propelled along the path to success through the Chevening Programme, which has seen over 1,000 scholarships awarded to Indonesians since the scheme began in 1984.

Currently about 30 scholarship and fellowship awards are made to Indonesians every year to study in the UK. On the scholarship programme the students choose where they want to study from a range of universities and professional institutions in the UK. Courses selected have included Masters in international security, media, finance, international relations and politics, economics, law, engineering, gender, climate change, and democracy.

The scholarship scheme is very competitive, every year more than 2,000 candidates apply. All candidates are required to be Indonesian citizens with excellent first degree results (minimum GPA 3.0). Another fundamental requirement is that the candidates should have future leadership potential and the capacity to play an important role in Indonesia’s development.

For more information on the application process and to read about the experiences of previous scholars please visit the  Chevening website at http://www.chevening.com
